General information for Birth Registration Certificate

The Embassy issues Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) for the children of Bangladeshi nationals, who are born in Portugal. No prior appointment is needed for availing this service.

Processing of the Birth Registration Certificate application requires minimum 07 (Seven) working days.

The Embassy does not have any agent for processing birth registration documents (and for that matter, passport, visa, travel permit or for any other consular service). The service seekers are advised to get in touch with the Embassy direct for all kinds of service.


Process of Birth Registration Certificate application:

  1. Please fill in Birth Registration Certificate application online at https://www. bdris.gov.bd/. Make sure you select “Bangladesh Embassy, Lisbon”, where you want to receive your Birth Registration Certificate. Please skip the payment option. After submitting the application online, please print it.
  2. Please submit the printed application form at the Embassy counter. (Applicants can also avail the postal service to send and receive the documents. Please see below for more information regarding postal services.)
  3. Please pay the fees at the counter. You can pay only in cash. Birth registration fee: Free of charge for new born babies (Euro 01 for children over 45 days) After the submission of application fee at the Embassy counter, a money receipt will be provided to you.
  4. You will be notified when the Birth Certificate will be ready to be delivered at the counter or sent to you by postal service (if you had already sent the paid envelope).


Documents required Birth Registration Certificate application:

  1. Printed copy of the Birth Registration Certificate application that has been submitted online;
  2. Photocopy of the Portuguese Birth Certificate;
  3. 01 copy of colour photograph with white background (45 mm× 35 mm)
  4. Passport copy/s and online Birth Registration Certificate copy/s of Birth Registration Certificate of the parent/s


Service hours:

On all working days, i.e., Monday to Friday except holidays:
Receiving of documents: 9.30 am - 12.30 pm
Delivery of documents: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm


Postal service: 

Postal service may be availed of by sending the documents by post to the Embassy address. The application fee (if applicable) may be sent by postal cheque. After processing of your documents, those may be received either direct from the Embassy counter or by return post. In case of return by post, the applicant needs to send an envelope with own address on it along with postal fee of Euro 4.00. The postal fee can be paid together with the application fee as a total by the postal cheque. For postal service, the following address may be used:
